October 2005

1 October, Open de Toulouse, 3rd Round 69 (-3)
A bit of a waste today. Three under after nine holes with the holes you can take advantage off still to come. All three of my bogeys today were very sloppy and avoidable, especially the 17th where I missed from 2 feet. Still in the hunt though but it’s been a bit of a struggle all week. Need to reduce my mistakes as I've made 20 birdies this week already and only sit at 10 under-par. My back is also a bit sore as the beds here are poor. David.

2 October, Open de Toulouse, 4th Round 71 (-1)
Struggled again today but also not so good mentally and putted terribly. Nice bogey at the last to miss out on a top 10 finish. Not best pleased. Coupled with the prospect of not getting home tonight it's not been the best of days. Hearts and Liverpool better win now! David

6 October, Abama Open de Canarias, 1st Round 68 (-3)

Played pretty solid today. Quiet round until a made three birdies in a row late on. Bogeyed the first when I hit a 3 iron into the water. Not an ideal start but got it back with a 2 putt birdie at the par 5 next. Hit 3 great irons in a row all within 3feet, 2 of them being long irons. Three putted the next from 15 feet but holed a 20 footer on 17 to get it back. Patience and caddie good all day. David

7 October, Abama Open de Canarias, 2nd Round 80 (+9)

Solid front nine in one over par with a few decent chances missed, then the 10th happened! Somehow I made a 10. Hit 3 balls out of bounds with some horrific mental mistakes. Things got worse when I made double bogey at the 12th after hitting ball into the water with another huge mental error. Played OK rest of the way round but made nothing and every little thing went wrong. Expensive day to have a mental blow up. David

19 October, Apulia San Domenico Grand Final, 1st Round 80 (+8)
Played OK as everything went wrong today but I stayed calm but still could not get anything right. Twelve rounds in a row par or better then two 80's. Weird. Got off to a great start today with a birdie at the first which turned out to be my only birdie and only one putt green. I missed 4 putts inside 10 feet in a row all for birdies on next few holes but then I started to make lots of half mistakes that resulted in a bogey. Then wrong yardage off great shot cost me treble bogey at the 16th. It's the worst I have putted for a long time also. Scoring is very good so a very disappointing day and feeling very flat at the moment. David

21 October, Apulia San Domenico Grand Final, 2nd Round 70 (-2), 3rd Round 76 (+4)
Again I hit it OK, but was just not sharp enough. My putting was appalling and I was still making countless mental mistakes. It was much windier today and I spent much of it not making birdies and giving shots away. I feel so flat on the course and am trying to get up for the round but have been pretty negative and down. No zip or spark about my game, so a lot of work to do for Tour School. At least I am not last anymore so that's one positive. David

23 October, Apulia San Domenico Grand Final, 4th Round 66 (-6)

66 today, but it didn't move me up the leaderboard. Played pretty solid with birdies at 1, 3, 10, 11, 14, 15 and 17 and just the one dropped shot at the par-5 7th. It didn't feel much different to previous days, but a slight change in set up helped. That leaves me 40th in the final Challenge Tour Rankings which is good enough for category 13 on the European Tour. Next event is the European Tour Final Qualifying on 10 November at San Roque where hopefully I can get a European Tour card. David
