December 2005

1 December, 48 Abierto Mexicano Corona, 1st Round 70 (-1)
Decent day. Weather perfect. Playing at altitude so yardages quite hard. 190 yards for a comfortable seven! Was patient and holed out ok. One birdie and no bogeys. Little but scrappy but short game much better than tour school. Caddie for the week is the spitting image of Penfold from Dangermouse! David

2 December, 48 Abierto Mexicano Corona, 2nd Round 74 (+3)
Weird day! Dreadful start, got it back only then to through it all away again. Was 3 over par after my opening 5 holes but made three birdies to get back to even for the day. Could have made a few more but then I go and bogey my final 3 holes. Hit a poor tee shot on 16, had a mud ball on 17 and then unlucky up the last. Short game and putting not as good as yesterday, but I was pretty patient all day which is good. Should be OK for the cut by 2 or 3. David

3 December, 48 Abierto Mexicano Corona, 3rd Round 70 (-1)

Another very mixed day. Six birdies, a bogey and two double bogeys. Got off to a great start with back to back birdies but missed a few good chances before making double bogey due to a poor tee shot. Got it back to two under before a mud ball at the 17th cost be another double. Made birdie at last after hitting my rescue club to an inch after driving into the trees. Holed a good few decent length putts for a change but hit driver appallingly. Hooking it virtually every time. Typical Challenge Tour where you can't hit woods on the range so can't try and sort it. David.

4 December, 48 Abierto Mexicano Corona, 4th Round 70 (-1)

One of the more pleasing rounds as I was awful, especially on the front 9. Hooked my 3 wood at the very first hole Out of Bounds and then hit 4 of next 5 tee shots into the trees. Made a great birdie on seven, the toughest hole on the course, which gave me some confidence but it, was still a struggle all the way. Managed to at least keep it in play on the back nine. Putted pretty well but a few mud balls still cost me. Three birdies on the par 3's helped. Made a great up and down at the 17th and another very good par from the trees at the last especially pleasing. David
