August 2005
18 August, Skandia PGA Open, 1st Round 66 (-4)
Played solid today. Started at the 10th and I holed a few lovely
putts early which got me going. Birdies at 11, 13 and 14 got me to 3 under
at the turn. Dropped a shot at the third but bounced right back with a
birdie 2 at the next. Finished my round well with a birdie 4 at the par
5 9th hole to be round in 4 under-par. I did hit a few loose tee shots
but went through routine well and was relaxed on course. Much better over
all. Short game much better as well. David
19 August, Skandia PGA Open, 2nd Round 69 (-1)
Played pretty solid apart from a couple of loose 3 woods in the middle
of the round. Was patient and did not make my first birdie until the 11th.
I enjoyed having my name on the leaderboard even though I never really
thought about it much. Made frustrating bogey at the last as they were
all decent shots and in the end I missed a tricky downhill 4-footer for
par. I am third, 3 shots off the lead so am in good shape for the weekend.

25 August, Morson International Pro-am Challenge, 1st Round 73
(+3), 2nd Round 69 (-1)
Played pretty well today apart from a few loose drivers. Putted much better
but still did not make anything of note. Short game is still a bit tentative
as well. Did not end my round the best way. After missing from 5 feet
at the 17th for birdie I made a dreadful bogey due to mental mistake at
last. Finished two over for the opening rounds and it should be on the
cut mark but will have to wait and see. David
26 August, Morson International Pro-am Challenge, 3rd Round 68
(-2)
Played well again. It poured down most of day, truly horrible conditions,
but I grinded really well today for my score. Only mistake came at the
15th when I made a poor double bogey right when the rain finally stopped!
Poor choice of tee shot followed by a thinned wedge but birdies at the
next two holes was very pleasing. David
